Feeding Students Community Garden

The Feeding Students USA community garden is up and running!

We now have five raised beds in a previously-unused space next to the pantry. Automated drip irrigation helps with the watering chores and, we have room to grow.

Summer is a challenging growing time in Phoenix. This summer, we are starting with okra, which grows great here March through September. We will aim for more variety in the fall, when planting for the winter growing season.

Stay tuned here and, on social media (particularly Instagram) for updates!

We Need Your Direct Donations!

Things are extra tight for a lot of people right now and, Feeding Students is no exception. We are working hard to plan and raise funds for our annual project to make sure families suffering from food scarcity get a proper holiday dinner on Thanksgiving. We started a Go Fund Me campaign to help get the word out and, had started promoting that as a good way for you to help.

Unfortunately, we have discovered that the support pledged through Go Fund Me won’t be available in time to help with this year’s Thanksgiving event. We have switched to asking for help through our regular donation link. We appreciate your understanding and support in helping to keep these communities fed!

Spotlight: Seamus Christensen

When Seamus Christensen heard his neighbors were going hungry, he jumped into action, staging his own food drive to help the Feeding Students mission. He did the food drive as a service project as part of the  preparation for his upcoming Confirmation at St. Theresa’s. He created a flyer, handed it out to neighbors (and posted on Facebook) and, manned a table during the collection time. We weighed his collections and calculated that he collected 130 pounds of food!  He also directed donations to the Feeding Students website for those that weren’t able to join in person.

Seamus is the epitome of what we mean when we say Spread the Love!
